Eddie Bauer/ First Ascent has partnered with Mountainfilm in Telluride again this year to celebrate the untamable spirit of adventure and raise awareness about issues that might threaten our planet. Mountainfilm in Telluride is an independent documentary film festival, but it’s also an “assembly of people who have come together to see what the human spirit can achieve,” according to the organizers. The May 28–31 event also includes a gallery walk, filmmaker Q&A sessions and book signings. The special focus for this year’s film programming is The Extinction Crisis.
Joining us at this year’s festival are First Ascent guides Ed Viesturs, Peter Whittaker and Erik Leidecker, skier Lynsey Dyer, and kayak adventurers Jesse Coombs, Darin McQuoid and Ben Stookesberry. Jesse, Darin and Ben are especially excited about the premiere of their new movie, Hotel Charley V.5: First Descent, which will be shown at the Elks Lodge in Telluride at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 27. Also, plan to stop by the First Ascent Airstream to say hi if you’re attending Mountainfilm, or be a part of the event virtually as we post updates to our Facebook page and Twitter.
