Mountainfilm isn’t just a festival to showcase films; it’s a festival devoted to sparking a conversation. Eddie Bauer returns as a Presenting Sponsor, and some of our sponsored athletes will be present at this year’s event, May 27-30, 2011, in Telluride, CO.
Ben Stookesberry will present a short film, and Chris Korbulic will present a photography exhibit—both are dedicated to those that live their lives for adventure, document the kayak team’s Africa expedition last year, and pay tribute to African kayak guide Hendri Coetzee, who died tragically during that expedition. Jake Norton will attend as a judge for the Charlie Fowler Award for Best Adventure Film and participate in a breakfast panel. Be First recipient Dan Austin of 88 Bikes will also be in attendance.
“Our theme this year is Awareness into Action,” Festival Director David Holbrooke said. “So we were particularly looking for special guests who can both motivate our audiences–engage and energize them–but also give them practical, hands-on help in actually becoming involved in critical issues. We want people to have much better tools for making a difference when they leave this year’s festival.”
Headlining the list of special guests is author and conservationist Terry Tempest Williams. To learn more about this year’s special guests, click here. Watch for more details here on the Born Out There blog.
