As the weather starts getting colder, we’re starting to strategize about our technical layering systems. This week is the official launch of our New School of Layering campaign that breaks down the mid, shell and loft level options for technical layering. We’re getting technical in our stores, on our First Ascent page and on the Live Your Adventure blog, highlighting innovative designs such as our BC MicroTherm Jacket and our new Gear-of-the-Year, award-winning Neoteric Shell. The top shelf options are many, but the key to the effort is explaining how to effectively combine these exceptional pieces of gear into a customized layering system.
To celebrate the kick-off of our education campaign we’ve enlisted Eddie Bauer guide Ed Viesturs, the first American to summit the world’s 14 highest peaks without supplemental oxygen. Ed has braved some of the world’s worst weather and is an undisputed authority on the importance of technical layering. He’s also an accomplished mountain guide who can explain it all in easily digestible detail. In this video segment he breaks down the ins and outs of his technical layering solution. —LYA Editor
