Last winter Wyatt Caldwell hit the road to Revelstoke. The main reason was not just for an epic road trip into the Canadian mountain wilderness but also to link up with Eddie Bauer guide Scott Newsome at his Eagle Pass Heli operation. In episode two of the epic webisode mini-series chronicling his journey, Mr. Caldwell gives us the straight, unvarnished, fully mustachioed story on Scott Newsome and why his hometown heli op was such a big draw. And it’s about more than just the deep Monashee pow.
For readers who didn’t see the first episode on Tuesday, we’ve pasted the series recap below:
Last winter we sent our Eddie Bauer ski and snowboard team up the Powder Highway of interior BC for two epic road trips. We recapped the first Stellar Media trip last month on the LYA blog, but the sequel was a whole different story. It started when we pointed Eddie Bauer shredder Wyatt Caldwell north from Idaho with a road map, a camper, a sled trailer, a promise of heli time at Eagle Pass and his brother Yancy to document the experience.
The Idaho boys made it over the border, beyond the Nelson, BC vortex, through the mountain passes, on the last ferry and even to grandma’s house before landing their program in the crossroads powder hamlet of Revelstoke and the driveway of Echo Bay Lodge. But they arrived with perfect timing to bluebird conditions after a month of storm. The result of their brothers-on-the-road journey is a five-part, mini-series that we’ve called, The Road to Revelstoke, which blends classic Caldwell flavor with the epic powder road trip experience.
