Gondola Sessions II: Return to Rev with Andy Mahre
Posted on December 4, 2015

Andy Mahre is as mellow as mellow gets. But once you get him talking—usually while skiing—his perspective on his path as a professional skier and global traveller is deeply insightful and exactly on point. Watching him on the hill is an expression of pure joy and pure flow, with a natural style that few in the freeskiing ranks can match. We were lucky enough to both ski and talk with Mahre in Revelstoke last winter during our Eddie Bauer ski week, tracking him down between trips to Japan, Jackson and the Skier’s Cup mission in the Alps while he was still holding a cargo-pocketful of strange foreign currency. He left us with some good stories of his travels and some serious words of wisdom. In the latest episode of The Gondola Sessions II: Return to Rev, we capture the mellow essence of Mahre—diving into topics from targeting bigger vertical lines and  battling through injury to his destination hit list for this winter. —LYA Editor

Series Description

Building on the success of last year’s breakthrough performance, the second edition of The Gondola Sessions captures what it is like to share a gondola with one of the members of the Eddie Bauer ski and snowboard team. Filmed on location in the Revelstoke Mountain Resort Revelation Gondola—with additional action footage from Alaska, Japan and interior BC—Gondola Sessions II: Return to Rev asks the tough questions of pro skiers and shredders Lexi du Pont, KC Deane, Andy Mahre, Lynsey Dyer, Wyatt Caldwell and Seth Waterfall. The result is a conversational summary of their 2014-15 seasons—plus plenty of deep powder footage— for those who have not had the experience of scoring a lift ride with the members of this totally entertaining and fully charging crew.

Due to heightened avalanche conditions Andy Mahre takes the safe route down the ridge, getting some surfy turns in while staying out of the danger zones on the way down his line.
